What buyers actually specify
Cumin is bought on cleanliness before flavour. Purity and admixture — how much of what is in the bag is actually cumin — are the numbers that decide whether a lot clears a European buyer's incoming check, and machine-cleaned and sortex-cleaned material are priced as different products for that reason.
Pesticide residues are the second screen. EU buyers test on arrival, and a lot that fails is a lot you pay to ship twice. We agree the residue expectation with you up front rather than discovering it at the border.
Specification

Commercial terms
Made to order against a confirmed purchase order, so lead times are longer than our stocked lines. Price and minimum order quantity are quoted per contract on an FOB or CIF basis — there are too many variables in origin, grade, packing and freight for a list price to mean anything. Payment terms and documentation follow the same pack as our stocked lines. Ask and we will put a number and a date against your specification.
Compliance
Every lot ships with a NABL-accredited Certificate of Analysis, a Spices Board Certificate of Origin and a Phytosanitary Certificate. Ethylene oxide is not used at any stage; residues are reported against the EU sum limit of 0.1 mg/kg for ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol under Reg. (EC) 396/2005, and against the US tolerance of 7 ppm under 40 CFR 180.151. Aflatoxin and ochratoxin A are reported against the maximum levels in Reg. (EU) 2023/915.
Common questions
Can you supply sortex-cleaned cumin?
Cleaning standard is one of the things we agree on the purchase order. Tell us what your incoming check requires and we will confirm what we can supply against it.
How are pesticide residues handled?
Residues are reported on the NABL Certificate of Analysis. For EU shipments we work to the MRLs in Reg. (EC) 396/2005; tell us the destination and we will confirm the screen before the lot ships.
What is the lead time?
Longer than our stocked lines, because the lot is made to your specification against a confirmed PO. We put a date against it when we quote.
