Why UK buyers work with us

From 15 July 2026, the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) removes UK import duty on Indian spices — making origin documentation the deciding factor between a shipment that claims preference and one that pays the old rate. SpiceModo ships every UK consignment with a CETA-compliant proof of origin alongside the full compliance pack.

Our UK buyers are wellness brands formulating curcumin and Ceylon cinnamon products, food manufacturers supplying the curry trade, specialty retailers, and distributors serving the UK's South Asian communities. What they get from us: FSA-aligned documentation that clears Port Health without queries, coumarin numbers on every Ceylon cinnamon CoA, and ETO non-detect certificates on every lot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from UK import buyers

Are Indian spices duty-free in the UK under CETA?

Yes. Under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (in force from 15 July 2026), the UK eliminates tariffs on Indian spices at entry into force. Shipments need a CETA-compliant proof of origin, which SpiceModo provides with the export document pack.

What UK food-safety rules apply to imported Indian spices?

UK imports are regulated by the Food Standards Agency under assimilated law: aflatoxin B1 max 5 ppb (10 ppb total), Salmonella absent in 25g, pesticide MRLs, and no ethylene oxide residues. High-risk consignments require IPAFFS pre-notification and may be checked by Port Health at entry.

Are SpiceModo spices ETO-free for UK clearance?

Yes. Every export lot is tested at NABL-accredited labs and ships as ETO non-detect, with the certificate included in the document pack for frictionless Port Health clearance.

How long does shipping from India to the UK take?

Sea freight from Indian ports to Felixstowe or London Gateway typically takes 22–28 days via Suez. Air freight for samples and high-value SKUs takes 2–4 days.

Do you supply UK-compliant retail labels?

Yes. For retail and private-label programmes we apply UK-compliant food labelling, including allergen emphasis and UK nutrition declarations, printed to your brand guidelines.
